The Nike Air Max 90 Mars Landing is officially here in the color scheme of Magma Orange and Mars Stone which resembles the red planet accurately. Instead of a base color this time around the Air Max 90s canvas is textured with a high resolution graphic  of the planet’s surface.

These look dirty right of the box thanks to this unique texture, but the overall presentation undeniably feels very “MARS”. The upper part of the shoe includes Nike’s Vac-Tech design because in space nobody has time for loose laces. The Air Max 90 sole on the Mars Landing features brilliant speckle work which resembles black space glistening with many stars. The only undisturbed color other than the laces is in the silver Nike tabs on the heel and the tongue which might nod to common astronaut suit designs throughout history. Another highlight for the Mars Landing is mostly hidden on the outsole but there was no exemption with the attention to detail, as it features a pattern the resembles the tracks of a rover wheel.

“Though the new silhouette focuses on Mars, certain details recall the original “Lunar Landing” shoe, including the all-over graphic and reflectivity on the laces and midsole speckles. The introduction of metallic hits on the tongue, heel, and outsole references the shiny Mars rovers. The result is a shoe that celebrates the past while looking forward to the exciting future of space travel and discovery.”  –  Nike.com

The Nike Air Max 90 Mars Landing are definitely worth checking out in my opinion and one of the more original space themed releases from Nike in 2019 so far. With the release of the Lunar90 SP “Moon Landing” and now these I wonder if this is just the beginning of an intergalactic phase for Nike, I hope so at least. These are now available on Nike’s official website as well as StockX.
